Bio

Nathanael Gray has been painting for eleven years, ever since his parents purchased him paintings for his twelfth birthday. His work has been exhibited in the Indiana Heritage Arts exhibit in Nashville, IN, two solo exhibits at The Columbia Club in Indianapolis, and last summer he had a solo exhibit at The Wesleyan World Headquarters in Fishers Indiana. In 2009 he received a degree in painting and theatre from Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, IN. Most recently, his exhibition Monuments was on display at The Elephant Room Gallery in Chicago.

Nathanael grew up in Chesterfield, IN. His most recent exhibit of work focuses on the factories that produced so much of the economy in the towns where he grew up, but now are no longer operating. The sight of Delco Remy in Anderson was a constant fixture when Nathanael was a kid. Most of the factory is now no longer even standing. The exhibit focuses on Delco Remy, as well as Borg Warner, Muncie, IN, and BPB Celotex, Lagro, IN. Empty factories litter the landscape of central Indiana, and in the exhibit Nathanael creates memorials to what these once where.

During high school Nathanael studied under professional artist David Slonim with whom he still maintains contact. During college he worked closely with acclaimed artist Rod Crossman. In 2005 he received a grant to attend the Susan K. Black Art Conference in Dubois, Wyoming. Nathanael currently resides in Wabash, IN where he works as the gallery coordinator for The Wabash Hoosier Salon Gallery in addition to working independently on his own painting.
